Course Description

Learn from Arlan Converse, a dedicated Tool Library volunteer and Air Force veteran with years of hands-on metalworking experience, both in the military and beyond. This course is designed to provide a basic knowledge of metalwork processes using steel, aluminum or stainless steel. Processes covered will include marking, cutting, grinding, drilling, bending, tapping and fastening. This is a hands-on course, and students will be asked to perform various processes using instructor-supplied materials, and with Tool Library Tools. Class is taught by the volunteers at the Lake County Tool Library, 309 N. Seymour Ave, Mundelein, IL 60060.
