Course Description

The anti-racism space often-times operates in a Black and White Binary, often times erasing the fact that BIPOC are complicit in upholding and perpetuating the systems of White supremacy and anti-Blackness. This interactive workshop will explore how the systems of whiteness and anti-Blackness exist within communities of color. Participants of this workshop will think critically about how the system of anti-Blackness shows up within their own communities of color and will explore strategies that help disrupt anti-Blackness and White supremacy. This conversation will encourage participants to stand in solidarity with Black Americans and engage in cross-racial allyship. This workshop would benefit anyone who is committed to disrupting the system of anti-Blackness, but the conversation and activities will be tailored to equip BIPOC with the skills and knowledge that can help begin disrupting anti-Black racism within the institutions, families, and communities they are a part of.

Learner Outcomes

  • To examine whiteness as a social construction
  • To explore ways that BIPOC perpetuate systems of racism
