Course Description

The emphasis of this session is on cultivating connection and a sense of belonging in online courses. Participants will learn strategies to make course content more engaging and pertinent by connecting it with students' personal experiences and aspirations. The session will also present effective practices for boosting student involvement and active participation in the virtual classroom.

Speaker Bio: Dr. Spencer Willis, Jr. is an Associate Professor of Practice within the College Teaching Graduate Interdisciplinary Program (GIDP) and contributes as an educational development consultant focusing on asynchronous and online teaching at the University of Arizona Center for Assessment, Teaching, and Technology (UCATT). Additionally, he serves as a lecturer of health promotion sciences at the Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health, University of Arizona.
