Led by community and technical college leaders and other experts in the field, NISOD webinars enable faculty members to conveniently learn about best practices and cutting-edge research related to effective teaching. Each webinar, a free benefit for NISOD-member colleges, includes timely, learning-focused, and action-oriented objectives that will help faculty members improve their teaching techniques for online, hybrid, blended, and face-to-face courses. The combination of powerful expertise and interactive technology promises to bring new life to professional development on campuses around the world.

As the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies becomes more prevalent in education, it is vital that we guide students in harnessing AI as a tool for learning and innovation, rather than as a means to compromise academic standards. This webinar provides strategies for redirecting students in the responsible and ethical use of AI while maintaining academic integrity.

Explore active-learning strategies for your classroom and experience virtual reality firsthand! This session demonstrates new technology and activities to re-energize and re-engage students while maintaining high educational standards. Participants play Blooket, explore VR apps, and learn how to turn their city into an interactive exhibit where students can explore and create. No technical experience is needed.

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Participants will demonstrate the ease of using educational games and virtual reality apps in the classroom.
  • Participants will select at least 3 ideas for active learning activities or games to energize and motivate students in their classes.
  • Participants will identify potential sites and people for students to learn from in their city.
