Three steps anyone can learn to help prevent suicide.

Course Outline

 

QPR Suicide Prevention Gatekeeper Training teaches skills to help someone in distress and save a life. 

 

Attendees are trained to recognize the signs of distress or a suicide crisis, develop the skills to intervene through the steps of Question Persuade Refer, and know how to connect students to the proper resources.

 

Attendees who complete the full training will obtain a QPR Suicide Prevention Gatekeeper certificate (active for 2 years).

 

Learner Outcomes

After this session, you will be able to

  • Recognize the warning signs, clues, and communications of a suicide crisis.
  • Utilize the three action steps (Question, Persuade, Refer) to intervene and help someone in distress and/or considering suicide.
  • Refer students to Counseling & Psychological Services and other resources to encourage and de-stigmatize help-seeking behaviors at College of Lake County.

Notes

This course requires a minimum of 5 registered participants to run and maximizes at 25 registrations. If the event is canceled, you will be notified via CLC Learn system. 


Attendees who complete the full training will obtain a QPR Suicide Prevention Gatekeeper certificate (active for 2 years). Individuals who arrive more than 15 minutes late will not be able to continue with the training and encouraged to attend another training date.
