Course Description

This self paced course is designed to give you a basic understanding and working knowledge of Microsoft Teams.

This course is divided up into Modules, each concentrating on a specific area within the Teams experience.

  • After each module, take time to reflect on how the topic helps with your understanding and use of the Teams experience.
  • The Activities will give you some guidance on practicing what you have learned before moving onto the next topic. 
  • There is a short quiz after each module that you should pass before continuing to the next module. 
  • You will need complete all the modules (units) and complete the evaluation form, but the real test is being able to work effectively in Teams.

Learner Outcomes

By the end of Module 1 - Introduction to Teams, you will be able to: 

  1. Understand the relationship between OneDrive, Teams, and SharePoint and when to use each.

By the end of Module 2 -Set up & Understanding your Workspace , you will be able to:

  1. Install Teams on a device & sign in.
  2. Recognize the Teams Client and what each icon/link does.
  3. Use the settings to configure the look of the interface, notifications, profile pictures, microphone, and camera.
  4. Understand the difference between Teams and Channels.
  5. Organize your Teams list/tiles.
  6. Order your chat list and favorite contacts.
  7. Use the search to find files, people, etc.

By the end of Module 3 - Communication, you will be able to:

  1. Understand the difference between posting in a channel and chatting.
  2. Post in a channel.
  3. Reply to a post in a channel.
  4. Start a chat.
  5. Make video and audio calls.
  6. Pop out chats.
  7. Use the messaging tools to create, format, and edit messages.
  8. Schedule meeting in Teams.
  9. Join a meeting.
  10. Share your screen.

By the end of Module 4 - File Collaboration & Storage, you will be able to:

  1. Create or upload a file or document in Teams.
  2. Pin a document for easy collaboration.
  3. Collaborate on files and documents.
  4. Move a file from your OneDrive into a Teams channel.
  5. Share a document with someone outside of your team.
  6. Recover a deleted document.
  7. Use OneDrive Sync to link a channel to your computer's File Explorer.
  8. Access Team files through your File Explorer.
