Course Description

Mental Health First Aid is a course that teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders. The training gives you the skills you need to reach out and provide initial help and support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem or experiencing a crisis.

Learner Outcomes

(1) Recognize common signs and symptoms of mental health challenges

(2) Recognize common signs and symptoms of substance use challenges

(3) Understand how to interact with a person in crisis

(4) Know how to connect a person with help

(5) Use self-care tools and techniques

(6) Learn how to respond to mental health crises with the Mental Health First Aid Action Plan

This session will be held in two parts:

  • Part 1- Thursday, July 18th, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm
  • Part 2- Thursday, July 25th, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm
