Whether you’re thinking about becoming a LEI student or supporting someone exploring their next steps, you’ve come to the right place!

 

Eligibility and requirements
To begin the enrollment process as a new LEI student, you must complete an application and schedule an initial interview. The interview is essential to determine eligibility prior to enrolling in classes.

  • New students must submit an application form by 9/13/26 to be eligible for fall 2026 classes
    • Once the application is received and reviewed, you will be contacted to schedule an interview.
    • The application window is closed for summer 2026.
  • Students must be 18 years or older and
    • be able to attend class independently
    • have their own transportation to class
    • sign a Student Agreement aligned with College of Lake County’s student code of conduct
       

Additional details

  • Current IEP is not required to join
  • Small class sizes (typically 4-12 students)
  • Courses are taught by a special education instructor and/or a content expert
  • Most classes welcome all reading levels
    • Some require a minimum third grade reading level (will be noted in course description when applicable)
  • Classes are graded on a pass/no pass basis
  • LEI is not part of a degree or certificate program to earn college credit
  • Classes are not eligible for Financial Aid
