Eligibility and requirements
To begin the enrollment process as a new LEI student, you must complete an application and schedule an initial interview. The interview is essential to determine eligibility prior to enrolling in classes.
- New students must submit an application form by 9/13/26 to be eligible for fall 2026 classes
- Once the application is received and reviewed, you will be contacted to schedule an interview.
- The application window is closed for summer 2026.
- Students must be 18 years or older and
- be able to attend class independently
- have their own transportation to class
- sign a Student Agreement aligned with College of Lake County’s student code of conduct
Additional details
- Current IEP is not required to join
- Small class sizes (typically 4-12 students)
- Courses are taught by a special education instructor and/or a content expert
- Most classes welcome all reading levels
- Some require a minimum third grade reading level (will be noted in course description when applicable)
- Classes are graded on a pass/no pass basis
- LEI is not part of a degree or certificate program to earn college credit
- Classes are not eligible for Financial Aid
